Brief History of Uttaranchal:
Uttaranchal is the king of mountains. The king of mountain Himalaya is said to consist of five segments:
• Kumaon
• Nepal
• Kedar
• Kangda
• Kashmir
This mid Himalayas region of Kumaon and Garhwal, which is commonly known as Uttaranchal today. Uttaranchal a also Called of Land of the Gods (Dev Bhoomi) because many holy places are there. Uttaranchal remained a part of Uttar Pradesh before it came into being on 9 November 2000, the 27th state of India.
The history of Uttaranchal State can be better understood through the history of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions separately, because they maintained independent identity except the period of Nepali aggression.
